How God Has Worked—and Still Works—in My Life Every Day
My name is Mark, and for more than four decades, my career has spanned leadership in healthcare, technology, public health, biotechnology, ballistic science, and mergers and acquisitions. I conceived, funded, and built UCompareHealthCare alongside my son and son-in-law, making it one of the world’s most trusted patient-centered platforms for comparing doctors and hospitals. In March of 2007, the company was acquired by The New York Times Company.
Through every chapter, my greatest constant has been my wife of nearly 50 years, whose faithfulness, patience, and love taught me what truly matters. I thank God every day for that single moment in high school when our lives first crossed, without knowing it would shape everything that followed.
From the outside, my life looked successful. But beneath the accomplishments was a childhood shaped by deprivation, condemnation, abuse, and neglect—a soul marked early by absence rather than security. Success did not heal those wounds. Achievement did not fill that void. Deep inside, something was still missing.

My “Two” Second Chances at Life
In 2022, my heart stopped. I didn’t almost die; I flatlined and survived only because of great doctors and a pacemaker. Two years later, I stood at death’s door again through two open-heart surgeries, and during the second, I suffered cardiac arrest. Both had only a 50% chance of survival. But God was not finished with me. He did not simply preserve my life. He transformed it.
In those fragile weeks, my two children became living vessels of love, strength, and unshakable encouragement for my wife and me. They carried our family when we could not carry ourselves.
FaithBindsUs was born in those sacred moments, not from comfort, but from surrender; not from theory, but from testimony; not from achievement, but from awakening.
I do not write from perfection.
I write from dependence.
