DAY 7 — SATURDAY - FaithBindsUs Daily Devotional For The Easter Week
The Silence Between Promise and Fulfillment
Applicable Scripture: 🙏 John 19:38–42 (NKJV)
The Silence Between the Cross and the Resurrection
It is quiet.
Too quiet.
The crowd is gone.
The cross stands empty.
The body has been laid in a tomb.
And for the first time since the story began, it feels like nothing is happening.
Theological Meaning
Jesus is buried. Not symbolically. Not partially. Fully.
The One who healed the sick, raised the dead, and calmed the storm now lies still. And this silence can feel like the end. But theologically, it is not absence. It is hidden fulfillment. Because what appears to be stillness… is actually the continuation of God’s redemptive work.
The cross has accomplished what was necessary.
And now, the promise waits in the quiet. The defining transition of all history—the movement from Old Covenant to New—is not a single visible moment but a divine event completed through death and resurrection.
Saturday lives inside that tension.
The sacrifice has been made.
The victory has not yet been seen.
Narrative Reality
This is the space no one talks about. Friday has its sorrow. Sunday has its celebration. But Saturday? Saturday is waiting.
The disciples are scattered. Hope feels buried with the body. Everything they believed now feels uncertain.
From their perspective:
The story looks finished. But from God’s perspective, the story is right on schedule. This is the gap between what God has said… and what we can currently see.
FaithBindsUs Insight
Silence does not mean absence. God is not inactive— He is often most at work where He is least visible. Saturday teaches us something most of us resist: Faith is not proven in clarity—it is formed in waiting.
Because anyone can believe when the outcome is visible.
But real trust is built here:
When prayers seem unanswered
When direction feels unclear
When God appears quiet
And yet—He is still moving.
A Prayer
Lord, in the silence, I am tempted to believe You are distant. But Your Word reminds me that You are always working. Help me trust You when I cannot see. Strengthen my faith in the waiting. Teach me to rest, not in what I feel— but in who You are. Even in the silence, I choose to believe You are faithful. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
