Formation & Application
What This Forms in Us
Genesis 3:9 forms in us an understanding that God is a pursuing God. His question, “Where are you?”, is not asked out of ignorance, but out of grace. It shapes in us humility and accountability, reminding us that even after sin fractures fellowship, God initiates restoration. This verse forms a heart that recognizes God’s nearness rather than assuming His distance.
How This Is Lived Out
This formation is lived out through honest engagement with God. Instead of hiding behind shame, distraction, or self-justification, we learn to respond openly to His presence. Faith is not demonstrated by perfection, but by truthful relationship. We live this out when we stop running from God’s voice and allow Him to address our real condition.
Practice for Today
Today, intentionally pause and ask yourself before God: Where am I?
Answer honestly—not where you want to be spiritually, but where you truly are. Bring that answer to God in prayer without defense or excuse, trusting His grace to meet you there.
Formation Truth (to carry forward)
Spiritual formation begins when we stop hiding and respond honestly to the God who seeks us.
A Prayer
Father, You call to me even when I turn away. Give me courage to answer You truthfully and to step into Your light. Form my heart through honesty, restore me through grace, and draw me back into faithful fellowship with You. Amen.
