Reflection & Rest
“For this is like the waters of Noah to Me;
For as I have sworn
That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth,
So have I sworn
That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.
For the mountains shall depart
And the hills be removed,
But My kindness shall not depart from you,
Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,”
Says the LORD, who has mercy on you.”
Reflection
This passage invites us to pause and rest in God’s heart of covenant faithfulness. The Flood was an act of judgment, yet God’s promise after the Flood revealed something greater: His mercy endures beyond judgment. Here in Isaiah, God reaches back to Noah’s story to remind His people that His covenant love is more secure than mountains or hills.
Even when the world feels unstable…
Even when our failures grieve us…
Even when life shakes our confidence…
God says, “My kindness shall not depart from you.”
Reflection & Rest reminds us that God’s purposes do not end in wrath. They move toward redemption, restoration, and peace. The God who preserved Noah now assures His people that His covenant of peace cannot be undone.
This week has shown us judgment, obedience, salvation, sacrifice, covenant, and promise. Today, we let those truths settle into the heart. We rest in this assurance:
God does not merely spare — He loves, He keeps, He restores, and He remains faithful.
Invitation to Rest
Let today be a day of quiet gratitude. Carry no striving. Release fear. Sit in God’s mercy.
Remember: salvation is not fragile, because God’s covenant love is not fragile. Let His faithfulness become your peace.
A Prayer
Lord, we rest in Your covenant mercy today. Thank You that Your kindness does not depart from us and Your covenant of peace cannot be removed. Teach our hearts to trust Your faithfulness, to rest in Your love,
and to walk in the quiet confidence
of Your unchanging grace.
Amen.
