Genesis - Day 27 - Abraham: Covenant, Faith, and Promise (Jan-29)
Formation & Application / Genesis 15:6 (NKJV)
Scripture Link
Formation & Application
“And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.”
What This Forms in Us
(Genesis 15:6) forms in us a vision of faith that rests not in performance, achievement, or religious effort, but in trusting God’s promise. Abraham is not declared righteous because of heroic deeds, flawless obedience, or spiritual strength — he is counted righteous because he believed God. This passage shapes a heart posture grounded in dependence rather than self-reliance. It calls us to respond to God not with negotiation or striving, but with trusting surrender to His word, His character, and His redemptive promise.
How This Is Lived Out
We live this out by choosing faith in the tension between promise and reality. Like Abraham, we walk through seasons where God’s word feels delayed, unseen, or impossible from a human perspective. Faith is expressed when we continue to trust God’s goodness in prayer, obedience, waiting, and perseverance. Not because circumstances make sense, but because God is faithful. Faith becomes a lived posture: trusting God’s grace rather than proving ourselves worthy of it.
Practice for Today
Today, name one area of your life where you feel uncertainty, delay, or discouragement. Bring it before God and say:
“Lord, I trust Your promise more than what I see.”
Release the desire to control the outcome and entrust that place to Him in prayer. Let faith replace anxiety, self-effort, or fear.
Formation Truth (to carry forward)
Righteousness is not earned by effort. It is received by faith in God’s promise.
A Prayer
Father, teach me to trust You as Abraham did. Help me to rest not in what I can accomplish, but in Your faithfulness and grace. Strengthen my faith when I cannot see the outcome, and form in me a heart that believes Your word with confidence and hope. Amen.

I keep running across "wait" devotionals and messages because I am an impatient person at times. Thank you for your writing and reminding me to throw the net out and to let it sit.
