Leviticus - Day 8 - Holiness: Drawing Near on God’s Terms (Mar 3)
Reflection & Rest / Psalm 24:3–6 (NKJV)
SCRIPTURE Link: 🙏 Psalm 24:3–6 (NKJV)
“Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD, or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face.” Selah.
Reflection
Psalm 24 asks a question that echoes the heart of Leviticus: Who may draw near to a holy God? The answer is not rooted in ritual perfection, status, or religious performance, but in a life shaped by truth, humility, and sincerity. “Clean hands” speak of outward obedience. “A pure heart” speaks of inward alignment. Together, they reveal that holiness is not about appearing righteous, but about being genuinely devoted to God.
Leviticus has taught us over the last 7 days that drawing near is always on God’s terms. He defines the way, provides the means, and invites His people to come honestly before Him. Psalm 24 reminds us that holiness is not only ceremonial but personal. It reaches into how we think, what we desire, and who we trust. God is not searching for flawless people; He is drawing near to those who are surrendered.
Reflection and rest come when we stop striving to prove ourselves and instead allow God to examine us. This is not a moment for fear, but for peace. The same God who calls for clean hands also provides mercy. The same God who desires pure hearts also promises blessing and righteousness to those who seek Him. Rest is found when we trust His work more than our effort.
Today, let your heart slow down. Let your soul breathe. Ask yourself quietly: Am I seeking God for who He is, or for what He gives? Am I trusting His holiness to shape me, or trying to shape myself? Holiness is not a ladder we climb. It is a grace we receive. And rest is the confidence that God is still forming us, even when we are still.
A Prayer:
Father, You are holy, and You invite me to draw near. Search my heart and cleanse my ways. I do not come in my own righteousness, but in trust of Your mercy and truth. Give me clean hands through obedience and a pure heart through surrender. Let my rest today be rooted in knowing that You are still shaping me. I seek You, not for reward, but for relationship. Amen.
