Tenets of Leadership: Don’t Lose Your Joy
“Joy strengthens leaders and sustains those they serve.”
Joy brings energy and hope. Leadership is serious business, but don’t take yourself too seriously. Smile. Laugh. Be human. Fun builds culture. Joy creates energy. And humility keeps you grounded. Fun builds culture: joy sustains it.
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
In a moment when sorrow could have paralyzed the people, Nehemiah shifts their focus to the holiness of the day and the need to rejoice. Great leaders help others lift their eyes from failure to purpose, from grief to growth, by reframing the moment in light of God’s truth.
(Nehemiah 8:10) shows that authentic leadership balances truth with grace, urgency with empathy, and direction with compassion. It reminds us that spiritual leadership is not just about rebuilding walls; it’s about rebuilding people.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gift of joy that renews strength. Teach me to lead with a joyful spirit that lifts others, even in difficult times. May my leadership reflect hope, energy, and compassion rooted in You. Amen.
