Tenets of Leadership: Loyalty and the Chain of Trust
“True loyalty is measured by obedience to God above all else.”
Loyalty to truth and integrity must surpass all. When loyalty is torn, stand with what is right. In organizational life, loyalty matters. A leader must stand behind their principles, their team, and their mission. When torn between loyalty to an institution and loyalty to a person of integrity, choose the one who stands for truth - your leader.
“We must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)
This verse is part of a powerful moment in the early church. Peter and the apostles had been arrested by the Jewish authorities for preaching about Jesus. When confronted and commanded to stop, their response was bold and unwavering: God’s authority takes precedence over human authority. (Acts 5:29) teaches that true leadership is marked by fearless obedience to God above all else. It demonstrates that spiritual authority and moral leadership are grounded in aligning one’s actions with the divine will, regardless of opposition. Leaders who model this kind of courage inspire trust, loyalty, and lasting impact.
