Tenets of Leadership: Recognize and Reward Relentlessly
“Gratitude fuels greatness, and encouragement sustains the mission.”
People are the heart of the mission. Recognize them often. Gratitude is fuel for greatness. The task may be hard, but the people are the heart of the effort that makes it happen. Take care of them. Acknowledge their work every day. Say “thank you.” Celebrate what’s right. Honor the doers. Reward the best. People will never forget how you made them feel.
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up…”
(1 Thessalonians 5:11)
This verse is part of Paul’s closing exhortations to the believers in Thessalonica. In the context of the surrounding verses, Paul encourages the church to remain spiritually alert and to encourage one another as they await the return of Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:11) reveals that true leadership involves encouraging others, building them up, and fostering a culture of support. It’s not about personal power, but about consistently empowering others, which reflects Christlike leadership.
