The Tenets of Leadership: Cultivate Participation and Ownership
"Leaders multiply their impact by sharing the mission, not hoarding it".
People are wired to contribute. A wise leader recognizes this and creates space for others to take part in the mission. When people feel a sense of ownership, they strive for excellence. They don’t just want responsibilities; they long for roles that matter. A wise leader invites others into the work, giving them a genuine stake in the vision and the reward.
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9)
This verse highlights the strength of companionship, collaboration, and shared purpose. Solomon reminds us that isolation leads to weakness, but partnership builds resilience and multiplies success. Effective leadership is not about standing above others but walking beside them. True leaders multiply their influence through teamwork, shared vision, and faithful collaboration.
Question for the Reader:
How have you invited others into your mission so that they don’t just follow you, but truly own the vision with you?
Prayer:
Lord, teach me to lead with open hands and an open heart. Help me to share the mission You’ve given me so that others can step into their calling. May I never cling to control, but instead create space for collaboration that glorifies You. Amen.
Reflection Question:
Where in your life or leadership do you need to shift from doing it alone to cultivating actual participation and shared ownership?
