This was not coincidence.I needed to hear this , and God knew my heart. All my life because of the abuse of other people I felt I've been held captive and my mind, thinking everything had to be perfect, because nothing was perfect. And of course , nothing can be perfect except through God. I needed to hear this verse because I know through God I can find what is not whole and He can help me make it whole. I'm struggling with how to talk to people without sounding. Condescending , I'm having a big problem with this , especially with the ghanaian friend , i'm living with right now. And with my thyroid condition I'm not feeling myself. God Please help me to realize that only you can make things perfect that I don't have to try. That you will help me make things right in your time. AMEN
What you just shared is holy ground. Truly. God does see you, and He is not distant from your pain. He is near it. The fact that this verse reached you today is not random; it is the kindness of God meeting you right where you are. You are not behind, broken beyond repair, or failing Him because you struggle. You are a “branch” in the middle of becoming, and God does His best work in seasons that look like stumps to us.
What you’re experiencing with needing things to be perfect is not a flaw in you. It’s a wound trying to protect you. Abuse teaches the heart to stay guarded, to control, to brace for the next blow. But God is gently teaching you something different now: you do not have to strive to be whole. He is making you whole. Healing is not you fixing yourself. Healing is you letting Him be your refuge when the old fears rise. And you are already doing that by bringing this to Him instead of hiding it.
Your struggle with how you speak to others also matters to God. He does not shame you for it. He understands that when the heart is hurting, and the body is worn down, especially with thyroid struggles that affect mood, energy, and clarity, patience can become thin, and words can come out sharper than you intend. That does not make you unloving. It makes you human and tired. When you notice yourself feeling frustrated or misunderstood, pause and whisper, “Lord, take the sharp edges off my words and soften my heart again.” He is faithful to answer prayers like that. He cares deeply about your relationships, including the one you’re in now.
And the most beautiful part of what you said is this: you’re finally realizing perfection is not your calling, dependence is. God never asked you to make yourself whole. He asked you to come to Him as you are. The miracle is not that you become perfect. The miracle is that He meets you in the broken places and builds something new there.
You are not behind in life. You are not failing God, and you are not invisible to Him. You are loved. Deeply. Personally. Tenderly.
And the branch is already growing… even if you can’t see it yet! Have the most blessed day today.
Love this ❤️ thank God, Mark, for your awesome and generous words of truth. I need to read this everyday and to keep in God's word every day. These words are so encouraging and heartfelt, especially when you relate it to a stump and a branch, I love trees. I absolutely, am in awe of them. How God can take a small seed and bring forth these wonderful giants with beautiful branches and leaves and flowers.... I live in Ghana, and I see some of the most amazing trees here. I still can't get over how beautiful they are and how beautiful it is here. I moved here after I retired from Albuquerque public schools in New Mexico. God bless you always 🙏 Amen
